FRIDAY 15 JANUARY 1909
From the book New Zealand Shipwrecks (Various editions C W N Ingram A H & A W Reed).
On the 06 January 1909 the Rio Loge departed Kaipara with a load of timber for Dunedin. By the 14th January she was in the company of the ketch Isabella De Fraine and schooner Waratah off the coast of Banks Peninsula. However a southerly gale came up and the three ships parted company.
On the 19th January the Isabella de Fraine passed through floating timber off Kaikoura Peninsula and Cape Campbell and a lifebouy bearing the name Rio Loge was picked up off Island Bay at Wellington.
