LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
RE MAORI WAR
Sir - Will you kindly allow me space to correct an error which appeared in the "Star" last evening regarding Mr Neylon's statement. The man killed on the 22 July 1863 was John EWINS and not EWING, as listed, and that his widow is still alive, although she is now Mrs Mary HART, having arrived here with her husband in the Elizabeth Ann Bright in 1863. He marched away from Otahuhu on the 9 July 1863 and was killed on the 22 July 1863, only 14 days in the country. I am etc Mary HART
